Sugar Hit : The Westin, Sydney
I love how the lounge bar of The Westin is situated; we always get a table on the “outside”, where I personally love the whole feeling of “a building inside a building” (quoting Sam, as he’s pretty much hit the nail on the head with that description) - looking up at the soaring skylight framed by the rough sandstone walls and high arches never ceases to make me wonder what and how the GPO was like back in its heyday.
Shu Shin Bou, Haymarket
I’ve always walked past the Regent Place and not thought much of what lies inside. It wasn’t until I read about Shu Shin Bou on Two-KG and eatlikeacow that I made a mental note to visit this place the next time I was in the area. Now you may notice that there are about 30 pictures in this post (apologies if your internet is capped or if your still on dial up), this is mainly due to the fact that I basically purchased every item on their menu.
Berowra Waters Inn, Berowra
Birthday dinner #[something] was celebrated at the newly crowned Sydney’s 2009 Best New Restaurant of the year, Berowra Waters Inn. Situated 45 minutes or so north of the city, Berowra is a nice leafy suburb on the fringe of Sydney. As there is no car access to the restaurant, they provide a private ferry service from a public wharf. I thought this was one of the “cool” and unique things about this place.
We’ve been TAGGED!
First of all apologies for the lack of posts. As with most things in life, you go through the motions and alot of things go through the life cycle of a bell curve. In saying that, we have a few posts to churn out in the next few days.
Good Food Month is officially over for 2008, but fortunately we still have a few posts to go which captures what some of you may have missed out on this year. Once again, Aria shines through with it’s $35 deal of a main dish and a glass of wine with tea and coffee as well. I remember coming here last year and I was equally impressed.
One thing that I cannot deny is my love for Oporto and subsequently Nando’s chicken. The pieces of grilled chicken dressed with lemon and herb sauce or the tongue numbing peri peri sauce gets me every time. However having a reputation of being fast food outlets, the authenticity of the way in which the chicken is prepared and the sauce that comes with it always plagues me. To satisfy my curiosity, a group of friends and I decided to try a restaurant that promises to serve traditional Portugese cuisine.
Another birthday dinner… another FABULOUS meal! Each year, we celebrate our birthday together with a great meal. Two (or maybe three!) years ago, we had our birthday dinner at chef Chad Muir’s other restaurant, Restaurant Balzac and loved the food tremendously. The european flavours and soft sourdough tempted us to follow him and dine at the new Burlington Bar and Dining.
